Our Calgary office is home to many of Alberta's leading lawyers. Opened in 1992, the office maintains a business law practice focused on M&A, securities, banking, joint ventures, project financings, real estate, tax and employment. In addition, our Calgary office maintains a commercial litigation practice and is renowned for its regulatory practice involving oil and gas and electricity related matters.

Our Calgary lawyers have expertise in a variety of sectors, with a focus on the oil and gas industry. We have acted as trusted advisors on many of the energy sector's most complex undertakings, from the financing and development of major projects to ongoing operations. Businesses turn to us for expert counsel relating to the exploration, production and refining of conventional oil and gas, oil sands and shale gas, as well as the extraction, transportation, processing and storage of crude oil, bitumen, natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) on a worldwide basis. We also have extensive experience with respect to energy trading and energy derivative products.

The office has a significant international dimension, advising on foreign investment in the Canadian energy sector, cross-border trade in energy resources and participation in international energy projects.

The Calgary office has won three awards for its active role in the community. Stikeman Elliott made a specific commitment in 2010 to help build our community by founding the Kids Inn Play program with Inn from the Cold, a Calgary organization which provides emergency shelter and support for homeless children and their families. The Kids Inn Play program engages the children at the Inn in safe and fun activities by providing funding and supplies for recreation opportunities throughout the year.
