Stikeman Elliott
Welcomes Return Stikeman Elliott LLP is pleased to announce that former partner, Lawson Hunter, Q.C., will be returning to the firm’s Ottawa office as Counsel. BCE’s Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Officer for the last five years, with responsibility for regulatory affairs and public policy, Mr. Hunter was previously the head of Stikeman Elliott’s Competition Law Group and a member of the firm’s Partnership Board. He entered private practice after a distinguished career in the federal public service where he served as head of the Competition Bureau and Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada. “We are delighted with Lawson Hunter’s return to Stikeman Elliott” said firm Chair Pierre Raymond. “His experience and successes in business – achieving substantial regulatory and public policy reforms, playing a key role in major transactions undertaken by BCE, including the ongoing privatization, and running corporate services for one of Canada’s largest companies – will be invaluable to the firm and to its clients.” Competition Law Group head Paul Collins added: “We could not be more pleased with the return of Lawson, one of Canada’s foremost experts on competition law, as a member of the group that he was instrumental in assembling – a group that is ranked by the Global Competition Review, Chambers Global and others as one of Canada’s perennial leaders.”
As Counsel to Stikeman Elliott, Mr.
Hunter will continue to expand the firm’s Ottawa-based federal law
practice, which he helped build in the 1990s into one of Canada’s
leaders. “I am excited to be returning to Stikeman Elliott”, he
said, “and look forward to using my recent regulatory, public policy
and business experience, along with my knowledge of competition law,
to enhance the firm’s ability to represent the interests of its many
Canadian and international clients before government and government
agencies.” PHOTO: Lawson Hunter, Q.C. |
